Guanacaste is named after the Costa Rican national Tree. Its geography is hilly, eventful by the mountain Range of Guanacaste toward the border with Alajuela, and with some high zones in the Peninsula of Nicoya. Politically it is divided into 11 cantons. The main economical activity is tourism, since its beaches are a great scenic attraction, and its hot climate is ideal. Liberia hosts the second international airport of Costa Rica, called International Airport Daniel Oduber.
